Job Description

Summary 

We are currently looking for an Engineering Product Manager, Door Actuator for our Montreal location.  As a Product Manager you will be responsible for the development of the Door Actuator product line, from design to manufacturing.  You will also be supporting the bid process by evaluating the feasibility of manufacturing the product presented in the bid.

 

To succeed in this role, you must have: 

  • Directly supervised a team of Engineers, designers and technicians;

  • Participated in the development of a product from design to manufacturing;

  • Work quickly while maintaining high efficiency standards.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Directly supervise a multidisciplinary team of up to 12 members (engineers, designers, technicians) specialized in electro-mechanical transit train Door Actuator;

  • Generate & Maintain Door Actuator Product Roadmap;

  • Technology Lookout for Door Actuator Product;

  • Forecast Door Actuator product group workload;

  • Track all Door Actuator product development activities, costs and tests;

  • Develop standard methods and train others to:

    • Estimate the effort to design and document Door Actuator products;

  • Plan and schedule all Door Actuator activities;

  • Estimate all Door Actuator product costs;

  • Analyze and assimilate technical specifications and standards;

    • Design and document all Door Actuator products: assembly drawings, schematics, and harness layout;

  • Participate in all Door Actuator product design reviews;

  • Perform Failure Analysis, including report and presentation to customer.

  •  With assistance, build, modify and repair test fixtures;

  • Verify and approve all Door Actuator products as per documentation or industry standards (if technically competent to do so);

  • Support Door Actuator products throughout the entire lifecycle (including NPI & Obsolescence Management);

  • Define with the Test Engineer/Designer the required tests (routine and qualification);

  • Validate with the Test Engineer/Designer and the Mechanical Technician the test equipment built;

  • Provide support to our manufacturing sites and suppliers, remotely from Montreal or on site;

  • Give technical presentations to customers ;

  • Support the selection and qualification of suppliers and support the bid and advanced development group.

 

 

Training/Experience/Knowledge:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in product design, product qualification and manufacturing validation

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in direct supervision of a team of professionals

  • Experience in mass transit or rail

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio), MS Project or other planning software application

  • Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks & AutoCAD 2014 are assets

  • Bilingual (French and English), written and spoken

  • Experience in process mapping and workflow

  • Available to travel 15% of the time

  • Proven leadership and accountability

  • Proven experience in a formal project development environment

 

Assets:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering Management, MBA or equivalent
